Winter clothing in Namibia? When the rainy season comes to an end in March, winter is just around the corner in Namibia. While we get into the spring mood in the northern hemisphere, it is exactly the opposite in the southern hemisphere. Although there is hardly any frost to be expected in winter, the temperatures in Rundu only reach single-digit plus degrees from June to August, especially in the early morning hours. This means a cold journey to school for many children, who set off early in the morning in flip-flops, shorts and T-shirts in order to be at school on time at 6.30 am.

While shopping for his own children, Micha Kühne, headmaster of our partner school in Rundu, came up with the idea of buying winter clothing for needy pupils. The organisation was quickly informed and it was clarified that Conambiki would provide the funds.

So a small team set off with the children to go shopping. Half a day later, 23 happy children were each equipped with a pair of new shoes, socks, underwear, long trousers, a long top and a jacket. At this point, a big thank you to the local clothing shop for the bulk discount on the 1.5 metre long bill.

And many thanks to all our supporters who made this possible!
